Twenty Lakes Basin is an area in the eastern Sierra Nevada, just outside the eastern side of Yosemite National Park, off of Highway 120. A short dirt road leads up to Saddlebag Lake, from where we took the boat-shortcut to hike the Twenty Lakes Basin loop. Gemstone lake is at the beginning of the hike and the weather was still beautiful. Close to the end, a thunderstorm with heavy rain started. We were lucky to get onto the next boat that arrived to take us back. It was still a very enjoyable hike in an astonishing landscape!
