After our morning visit to McLeod Lake (previous post) we drove to June Lake in the afternoon, to see how the fall colors in this lovely area were progressing.
I had seen a particular photo in on one of the pamphlets that I had picked up on the way – Alex identified the lake in the photo as Silver Lake, but we weren’t sure which trail to take to get that view. We knew that it must have been the Rush Creek Trail, but this trail leads both north and south from the trailhead (which is across the street from Silver Lake Campground).
We chose the trail leading south – thinking that it would lead us up above Silver Lake. While this did it happen, it was not the view I had hoped for. Of course I made some photos nevertheless! 🙂
We did not hike too far since it was afternoon already, and Agnew Lake or Gem Lake were pretty much out of reach for us by that time. Instead, we returned to the car (and had a lovely encounter with a deer family too!) and went to have dinner at the famous Whoa Nellie Deli near Lee Vining. 🙂
