We stopped at Lake Mamie and the Twin Lakes Overlook in the morning before continuing to Horseshoe Lake and a hike to the Red Cones. The first Lake Mamie photo below was made from pretty much the same spot where I also made the night photo. 🙂
Our first excursion during our week in the Eastern Sierra was to McLeod Lake, which lies just 1 mile above Horseshoe Lake. The unusual elevation as well as the cool and very dry air were taking a toll and we didn’t venture much further than the lake itself.
We’re back from a week-long visit to the Eastern Sierra where we did some hiking and day trips based out of Mammoth Lakes. On the evening of our arrival we had an early dinner and then took a walk with Toni at Horseshoe Lake. The sun was setting and we could easily wait for the stars to come out. At Lake Mamie, it was especially nice to see the stars and Milky Way reflect in the calm water.

Dreamy Shores of Sun Moon Lake in Nantou County, Taiwan. The tower in the distance is the Cihen Pagoda.
On a foggy morning at nearby Lake Hodges, San Diego, California.
Impressions from a visit to idyllic Königssee in Bavaria, and a short hike to Obersee and Röthbach waterfall. We were lucky with the weather, it was mostly sunny and only in the afternoon it became more cloudy and overcast.
